Can you tell me exactly how much money I can save?

It’s best to purchase the parts locally to save on shipping costs, but if you have to order online, try and buy all the parts at few places to cut down on shipping costs.
The overall system cost can vary depending on whether you build the entire system by hand or if you buy pre-assembled components.
How much should it cost to install the system?
Again, this really depends on whether you are installing the system yourself or if you’re paying an electrician. If you are going to use a electrician, find out how much they charge per hour. Most electricians will be able to install an assembled system within 1-2 hours. All the instructions are provided in the books.
Do you have a site to order the parts if they are not available locally?
When you purchase the system plans you’ll receive a full list of all parts required to build the system. Most items can be found at your local hardware store. If you have any trouble finding these parts locally, you will receive information on how to get these parts from online stores.

Can you extend the system by adding additional devices?
Yes, for bigger homes, you may link multiple devices together to increase energy production as long as you have space to mount the wind generators and solar panels.
Can I order the parts locally?
Yes, all of the parts can be obtained locally. If you have any trouble locating a part locally, online suppliers are also given.
How long will it take to build the wind/solar generators?
Once you have the parts you should be able to build each of them in no more than a couple of days. This makes for a great weekend project.
How much power do the solar panels produce?
Our manual provides instructions to build 72 watt panels and you also get the instructions so you can join multiple panels together to raise the output to 1000 watts +.
Can I use the program manual to make a 220V-240V system for places like Australia or Nigeria?
Yes. This complete system is virtually the same. The only thing you would need to do is get an inverter that puts out the larger 240V. You will learn more about inverter options in the Earth4Energy manual.
Will I learn how to wire the renewable power into my home’s AC breaker panel?
Wiring your own power into the AC breaker panel is very dangerous and is illegal unless it is done by a qualified electrician. You can save a lot of power by running items straight from your inverter but if you must bring the power into the home AC breaker panel than we recommend you contact a local electrician.
Can I power my whole home with just a $200 system?
You can make a single solar panel from between $100 and $200. However, there are given instructions on how to build the system by adding multiple solar panels and a larger battery bank/inverter. By expanding the smaller $200 system you can power much more of your homes energy needs.

1. What is an Energy “Audit”?
An “audit” is merely an examination or review. With an energy audit, the auditor, using specific steps, methods and information, examines the current energy use of a building, facility or structure and makes a detailed list of energy targets – things like lighting, heating and machines.
This information tells the business how much they are currently spending to run their facility. The objective of the audit is to identify ways for the facility to reduce its energy use without impacting its current or planned operations.
2. Can you just audit one aspect of the facility, like lighting? Yes.
Energy Audits can be as simple as one energy target – an air conditioner, or as complex as a Comprehensive Facility Audit looking at everything at the facility. In fact, lighting is one of the easiest and most lucrative aspects of the auditing business.
Some facilities like restaurants and retail centers spend over 50% of their energy bill on lighting alone. By helping them reduce that energy use you are saving them money, which is good for business and good for the environment.
3. Do you have to convince a business to change the way it operates? No.
We never ask a company to change its operating formula – we are not business consultants. They are the expert in their business and we in ours. We only point out the energy problems. We do not suggest that the business do anything to change its production methods, operations or other factors.
Often time businesses will ask your advice on merging these two, which is wonderful, but if they want to prop the door open during a Phoenix summer because they think it draws more foot traffic, that is not something we convince them to change. We only identify the problem and offer reasoned solutions. And business is great.
4. Won’t they just hire tradespeople instead of me? No.
Most tradespeople do not know about energy auditing. They know their trade – HVAC (heating ventilation and air conditioning) for example know air conditioners. They do not know lighting. They do not know building shell, machines or solar gain. So when we find a problem with the air conditioning units at a facility, we call in an HVAC expert to find out how to make that unit more efficient.
If the facility was to call in an HVAC expert but not ours, they would get a significant HVAC bill, but their lighting, building shell, machines, and solar gain would go unchanged. The result would be minimal energy savings. Since you are looking at ALL energy targets and not just one trade’s targets, you offer the client a complete energy audit. Together the client gets the savings, you get your profit, and the tradesman gets their job.
5. What does the training include?
All training materials are digital downloads over the Internet. They are comprised of a multitude of different documents including 7 training modules formatted as PDF documents, 6 Excel Spreadsheets and audit materials including MS Word documents and other miscellaneous materials.

6. How Long Does the Training Take?
All the materials are packaged together in one large download that you get at the time of purchase. You are free to take as short or as long as you want to learn the materials. Most candidates complete the program within 2 weeks.
7. Tell me about the Certification Test?

1. Why don’t free tips work?
Free tips aren’t targeted…by that I mean they don’t address a need that you might have. They are just generic tips that may work depending on your situation. Most of the time, they aren’t that effective. Take for example the classic “lowering your thermostat to 68F in the winter can save 20% on heating bills.” Under most circumstances, your bill won’t go down 20%. Or even close to that. Maybe if your house was heated to 74 or something like that and you have decent insulation you will see those savings. Most of us won’t. That tip isn’t going to lower our bill all that much if we keep the thermostat at 69F.
2. How much energy does the kit aim to save?
It depends on your situation and how much you’re wasting. The goal is to reduce energy by finding energy waste and fixing it. For some people, this is a few dollars a day – which adds up to almost $100 a month. For others the savings are more modest.
3. What do I need on my computer to open the kit?
Three things, all of which you probably already have:
1. A PDF reader. The most common is Acrobat Reader.
2. Microsoft Excel, or Open Office Calc. MS Office costs money, but Open Office is free and will work fine. Chances are, though, you already have excel. You can also download Excel reader for free from Microsoft.
3. An unzip program, like winzip or stuff-it. Windows XP already should have an unzip program built in.

Using the Kit Questions
9. Where do I start?
Start with the Audit Guide, and follow the instructions within it. Record your findings and enter the data into the calculators. Make your decisions on energy based on your observations and the numbers. That’s pretty much it.
10. Why is this better than a “professional” visit?
Professionals do a good job covering the expensive areas of your home they can repair and make money on. Windows, doors, insulation, etc. All the things most people really don’t do themselves. This makes sense for them, because it is an efficient use of their time. In doing this, though, they ignore or miss a lot of home energy “holes” in every household. This kit let’s you do both – replicate those expensive professional results AND look at your energy usage as a whole.
11. How long does that take?
Some can get through everything in about an hour or so, others take much longer. With this kit, you can take your time and do it right. Once you start doing it, though, you will get the hang of it and start to go much faster.
12. I can get this info for free.
I have been trying to find a lot of the information I wrote in the guides online for years now. It seems every single site I visit has something a little different, and it is never really complete.
Truth is, professional energy consultants usually guard it with their life…and for good reason. Their secrets keep them in business. It is true that they have access to some tools that you simply don’t (because they are far too expensive.) But you can replicate their results with the techniques in the kit.
13. I need help with the kit.
No problem. Drop a short email and you will get help. There are also several videos which hopefully will address your questions and basically “train” you how to most effectively use the kit. Note that the kit is easy to use (at least in my opinion), the videos will just tell you how to get more out of it.
